Review : Google Chrome gets people talking

By Andrew Redfern @ 3rd September 2008 12:58 pm

Over the past 24 hours the web has been flooded with articles and reviews of Google new web browser ‘Chrome’.

One particularly good review can be found here at Techzilo.com.

Naturally we joined the ruch to download and evaluate it. The installation process was basically seamless. Setting itself up and importing settings from existing browsers in seconds. The browser itself has a minimalist feel and at the moment it has a sense that they are just concentrating on the basics. The display and usage of the site was flawless and no crashes or bugs were detected as of yet.

ZDnet’s security blog offers one cautionary note. They say that a combination of two existing flaws in Chrome’s underlying systems could be exploiting to trick users in running malicious executables. However the reaction to the launch of this browser has been pretty positive.

The key thing about Chrome is the fact that eventually it will be able to run a wide array applications and could eventually act as the central application suite for computers, handhelds and mobiles. It’s open source nature means that anyone can develop for it. Users can join this new web developmen t community by going to the Google Chromium homepage.
