Yandex – Russian Search Engine Launches New Mapping System

By Andrew Redfern @ 3rd September 2008 11:37 pm

Russian Search Engine Yandex today rolled out a new world map, which is one of the most detailed online maps of the world and is also in the Russian language.

“The new map comes with search features. For example, Yandex users looking for Paris will find four of them – one in France, another in Slovakia, and two in Russia: in Bashkortostan and in Chelyabinskaya Oblast, ” says Andrey Karmatsky, the manager of Yandex.Maps.

“Using Yandex.Maps, one can find any town with a population of 50,000 people or more – be it Casas-de-Fernando-Alonso-o-los-Teatinos in Spain or Bobruysk in Belarus”.

Additionally, today Yandex released a new detailed map of Europe showing virtually all European cities, towns and villages.

All new maps are available on Yandex.Maps beta versio which can be found http://beta-maps.yandex.ru/
