Liverpool Business Breakfast Address By Business Leader

Mike Parker addressed a group of business leaders in south Liverpool telling them that he believed Liverpool would ride any future economic storms through a combination of new attractions and Scouse character.

The Liverpool Vision chairman also told the audience at the Partnership for Learning building at the Jaguar factory in Halewood that they should be proud of what had been achieved in the south of the city in recent years.

Mr Parker said: “Liverpool will handle the economic future very well, I believe, because the facilities and new attractions will bring people to the city. At last there are many excellent new hotels, Liverpool One is bringing people in, and the Arena and Convention Centre is booked out for months ahead.

“This increased footfall can only be good for Liverpool because visitors will see how the city has changed and is changing and they will want to come back again too because the people here are so welcoming.

“I have travelled the world and I can tell you that Liverpool has the ability to generate so much good will, it’s one of the city’s huge strengths. It means that whatever we do at Liverpool Vision it has to meet this character.”

Mr Parker also outlined his role at Liverpool Vision and told the members of the South Liverpool Business Network that regeneration success would be built on.

“I must say that the three organisations who came together to make up Liverpool Vision have done a great job, especially Liverpool Land Development Company in the south of the city.

“This area has been transformed and Liverpool should be really proud of what’s been achieved here, blending the old buildings and protecting their heritage with the new – it’s fantastic.”
