The first Google Android powered phone out soon and will cost $199

A report on Reuters quotes the Wall Street Journal as saying the price of the first of the new Google Android based phones will sell at $199.
The phone will be available through the T-Mobile USA network and is being manufactured the Taiwanese HTC Corp. The HTC Dream smartphone will be the first to utilise the new open source development platform available from Google.
Google Android is a linux based operating system and utilises Java libraries. The involvment of the Open Handest Alliance means that the Software Developers Kit will be available to develop on numerous different hardware platforms instead of being solely for one brand as with the iPhone.
The T-Mobile smartphone is leading the way and is expected to be marketed as direct competitor to the inducstry leading iPhone.
