Yahoo rebrands IndexTools as Yahoo Web Analytics9th October 2008 2:54 pm Yahoo have announced that their IndexTools has been rebranding and will now be known of Yahoo Web Analytics. At the moment the facility is in beta and is only available to existing IndexTools users and selected Yahoo users.
An article posted today on their corporate blog says “Born out of our acquisition of IndexTools in May, Yahoo! Web Analytics (beta) provides powerful data and insights reporting that help website owners evaluate their marketing performance and tweak their website designs. They’ll get custom real-time reports and graphs that help them slice and dice metrics like sales, page views, and sources of traffic and ultimately identify ways to amp up their visitor satisfaction. We’re rolling the service out in phases for the remainder of 2008 and into next year.” Read the full article here : Introducing Yahoo! Web Analytics The facility will be targetted as a direct competitor to Google Analytics which has been available since 2004. One of the key seeling points is that they promise to offer data almost immediately after the event has occurred They say “Get detailed reporting within minutes after an action occurs on your website. Quickly identify dips in key site metrics or monitor the performance of new content. Seeing the impact of website and marketing changes immediately makes it much easier to optimize them.” And they also maintain that the system will offer a fully customisable reporting facility for webmasters “features like drag & drop data filters, custom report wizards, and our segmentation selector, you can easily apply or remove filters to view the performance or characteristics of specific types of products, visitors and web pages. Create custom alerts and customize your dashboard with the gauges, metrics and benchmarks that make sense for your business.” It will be very interesting to see how the system measures up when it goes live to all users.
