Google Street View goes live in France

Today we note that Google has rolled out street level mapping for French cities such as Paris, Toulouse & Marseille.

As we reported earlier this year France was used as the testing ground for Google Street View in Europe with a limited trial mapping of this year’s Tour De France route. Now with this expansion can roam all around their virtual Paris.

It would seem the much touted legal issues have been circumvented by the efficient blurring of the individual faces displayed on the imagery.
Street View mapping of the UK is expected imminently with several Hit Search directors & employees reporting sightings of the distinctive Street View cars around Liverpool and are pinning their hopes on an appearance in the innaugural UK Street View imagery. We can assume that it’s a similar story all around Europe.
At present however it’s just France with the Street View button dissapearing the second you pan across the border. Even Monaco is no mapped so it would seem a limited, phased roll-out process has been adopted.
