Yandex to add user reviews to comparison engine

Yandex today annouced that Yandex.Market, the Yandex comparison shopping system, started to display user reviews of participating online shops. Now, the user reviews are available to all visitors of the service.

Before making a purchase, online customers will now be able to read what other users think of a particular shop. This service complements the user quality ratings for online shops featured to the service last fall.

“User reviews are an opportunity to learn from someone else’s experience and to find out beforehand what one can expect from a shop,” says Alexey Avdey, Project Manager at Yandex.

“We see user reviews, as well as user quality ratings, as effective instruments in helping online shoppers choose where to make a purchase.”

Each review will be displayed if it matches its category and is free from swearing or abuse. To keep user reviews up to date, Yandex.Market displays reviews for only three months. Once a review is posted, the online shops will be able to publicly reply to a user review using the partner shop interface.
