Marketing towards a specific niche can be difficult at the best of times. Imagine your product or service offered is catered directly at Orthodox Jews. This could be almost impossible to make an online market, jews being barred from surfing the internet by their rabbis.

There is however an answer to this. Koogle, is a search engine that is targetted directly towards the jewish population. The results are filtered in a way that excludes all sexually explicit material, and all material that is deemed as immodest by rabbis.

The site is at koogle.co.il and is apparently a play on name of a jewish noodle pudding and Google. The site only links to Israeli news and shopping sites as well as excluding shops that sell items that ultra orthadox Israeli are prohibited from having in their homes such as television sets.

The site was developed in part at the encouragement of rabbis who sought a solution to the needs of ultra-Orthodox Jews to browse the Web particularly for vital services, he said.

Nothing can be posted on the Jewish Sabbath, when religious law bans all types of work and business, spokesman for Koogle said. “If you try to buy something on the Sabbath, it gets stuck and won’t let you.”
