Google Indexing Bing Shopping Data In Search Results
by Andrew Redfern @ 23rd June 2009 10:45 am
Looks like Google is getting very friendly with Bing at the moment; too friendly in fact, it looks like Google is indexing a lot of pages of Microsoft’s “new” search engine Bing into its search results.
As of the 23 June - Google has slurped 261,000 pages of content from Bing’s shopping portal and is displaying its results in the search engine. The screen grab below shows the pages indexed from Bing’s engine.

The next screen grab shows that Google is Indexing and actually ranking the results in the search listings

Below is a copy of Bing’s Robots.txt files which ban’s any search engines from spidering its content - so its interesting that Bing pages have found thier way in Google’s natural listings.

Looks like its an oversight from Google’s point of view and hopefully it will be addressed in the near future. In the short term I positive that Bing are happy with the interest that Google is showing in their new found search engine. Lets see what happens next!
