


A UK company : Lucid Intelligence claims to have intercepted the sale of over 120m personal details of credit card users throughout the world. The service has raised several eyebrows amongst privacy groups alike. 4,000,000 users are said to be from within the UK.
ICO, the Information Commissioner are said to be monitoring the company very closely. Most worrying of all is that to check if you are one of the unlucky 120m, you need to actually enter your email address and name, so at the very least they could be creating a lucrative email database from every user.
Lucid, is run by Colin Holder an ex Met Police, fraud squad officer and obtained the information over 5 years, investing over £160,000 and utilising the FBI, law enforcement sources and anti-phishing campaigners. The business model involves charging users to view all the information that the database hold son them.
