iCrossing today announced that Jeffrey Pruitt, executive vice president, corporate partnerships, has been elected as president of SEMPO (Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization) for the second year in a row.
SEMPO, http://www.sempo.org, is the largest global non-profit organization serving the search engine marketing industry. It conducts a number of educational and research activities to create a better understanding of search’s role in marketing programs.

”SEMPO could not have selected a better advocate for search than Jeff,” said Jeffrey Herzog, founder and CEO of iCrossing.
“His experience, relationships with the major engines and understanding of how search impacts all digital marketing make him the ideal person for this position of industry leadership.”
Pruitt served as president of SEMPO during the 2007 term. During that period, the organization rolled out the SEMPO Institute, which has become a leading online distance learning resource for current and new search marketers.
Last year, SEMPO also developed local working groups abroad and in the U.S., and increased communications between sponsors and members.
Pruitt joined iCrossing in 1999. In addition to his position at SEMPO, Pruitt sits on the advertising councils of Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Yellow Pages Association.
