New video advert competitor launched

blinkx today announced unique technology to remunerate consumers who have embedded video clips into their blogs or webpages.

Based on blinkx’s AdHoc platform it places relevant text advertisements against embedded video from popular sharing sites such as YouTube, GoogleVideo and DailyMotion.

blinkx will share 50 percent of the revenue generated from the ads with users, and payments will be facilitated through PayPal.

Launched in June 2007, blinkx AdHoc is the first contextual advertising platform for online video, designed to place highly relevant advertising against video content on the Web.

“The dramatic growth of online video has been driven by a global audience – individuals who are creating and distributing user-generated content,” said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO, blinkx.

“We wanted to reward people for the role they played in sharing and promoting video legally on the Web. blinkx’s new AdHoc widget enables Internet users to monetise the video they choose to embed on their webpages and blogs quickly and easily.”
