Women sues over Facebook Beacon privacy violation

A Texas woman has begun a lawsuit against Blockbuster, the video rentals corporation, over it releasing her video rental history to Facebook’s Beacon marketing system.

She claims her rights have been violated under the Video Privacy Protection Act and claiming $2,500 (around £1250) per violation. The act was a bill passed by in 1988 and was created specifically to prevent wrongful disclosure of video tape rental or sale records.
