Bebo wins best use of the new media awardby Andrew Redfern @ 19th June 2008 5:42 pm Bebo today announced that it has been recognised in the 2008 Communication Agencies Association of New Zealand (CAANZ) awards through its unique marketing partnership with energy drink brand V. ‘The V Republic’ campaign, conceived and implemented on Bebo by OMD Digital, was awarded silver in the category for best use of the internet/new media. The annual CAANZ awards are committed to encouraging, recognising and rewarding excellence in the use of media as a communication tool. New Zealand’s work is world-class, a fact borne out by the number of CAANZ winning entries that have also taken top honours in overseas awards. “This is a great win for Bebo and V,” commented Francisco Cordero, Bebo’s Australian and New Zealand General Manager. “We worked very closely in partnership with both V and their New Zealand media agency OMD to develop and implement a campaign that would achieve their objectives.” An online community called ‘The V Republic’ was launched on Bebo in October 2007 to engage and entertain V’s core target audience of 18 to 24-year olds. The V Republic provides members with unique experiences and benefits, with one such example being a free party for the ‘most loved’ town as voted by members. After just three months, The V Republic had 11,340 registered members and spontaneous awareness of the V brand increased from 60 to 70 per cent. “There is no doubt the use of Bebo to host the V Republic has been a tremendous success for Frucor,” said Chris Riley, Director OMD Digital. “Bebo continues to attract a huge audience base in NZ, especially within V’s core demographic.
