Axe finally falls on Scrabulous?

The AllFacebook blog has highlighted the fact that the Scrabulous Facebook application is no longer functioning for users in the US & Canada. This could well herald time being called on the popular application. This comes in the wake of Hasbro, makers of Scrabble, filing a lawsuit against the writers of the application last Friday.

Last week Facebook stated “Over the past year, Facebook has tried to use its status as neutral platform provider to help the parties come to an amicable agreement, We’re disappointed that Hasbro has sought to draw us into their dispute.” however, unless the downtime is due to a technical glitch, it looks like Facebook has called time on the game.
UPDATE. Reports emerging today seem to point to Scrabulous’ creators taking the game offline voluntarily albeit after some prompting from Facebook. Either way it is a significant event in the long running dispute.
