Russian Search Engine Yandex today now offer video searches on large scale websites. The search service has partnered with tv broadcasters: Channel 1, Vesti, NTV, Kultura, Soyuz, Alternative Music Channel; with newspapers: Vedomosti, Izvestia, Life, Argumenti I Fakti, Kommersant, Komsomolskaya Pravda; with online media resources: newsru.com, newstube.ru, CNews.ru; and also with the information agency RIA Novosti. Total number of videos currently indexed by Yandex.Video is around three million.

“We used to index only “traditional” video hosting services like Rutube, Smotri.com, Youtube, Mail.Ru. This meant that Yandex.Video offered mostly amateur or semi-professional videos,” says Leonid Andrianov, the Yandex.Video Project Manager. “And now we can also retrieve professional content”.
Yandex.Video searches partner media websites to aggregate video data either via a separate XML-stream, or via website’s regular RSS feed to the Yandex.News service. New videos added by websites to their RSS feeds are automatically indexed in the Yandex.Video search.
Yandex.Video invites video hosting services to join the project with their legal, quality video content. For partnership enquiries, please, contact us at xml@video.yandex.ru.
