Bachelor Party Gobananas - Creating a Global Brand
by Andrew Redfern @ 22nd June 2009 1:42 pm Google Webmaster Tools
When designing a global site its important to understand the regional differences and spellings take Gobananas for example. The site is geared towards stag weekends, but in the states they are called Bachelor parties and in other countries called Buck parties.
Each country will require it’s own specific keyword research and then targeted accordingly. This can be done either through one main site and clever site architecture or through sub domains. Both have pros and cons. Having one site gives you a lot of weight on one domain but makes it more difficult to make your site effective on a country level. If you have a top level domain like.com then you can specify in google webmasters tools which sub domain is specific to which country.
If your site is set up in webmaster tools, but incorrectly, then you can find that your site does not perform anywhere near it could in the search rankings. In conclusion, when setting up a site, whether it be for bachelor parties or anything else, it is VITAL that you take as much time as possible in your keyword research and country targeting.
