Quotes on Nielsen and Google’s “strategic relationship”24th October 2007 1:20 pm iGoogle As reported earlier Nielsen Company and Google announced that they have established a multi-year, strategic relationship. “This is an important, strategic relationship for both companies and a great fit,” said David Calhoun, Chairman and CEO of The Nielsen Company. “We are pleased that Google looked to Nielsen to provide the demographic data that is so critical to the clients of its TV advertising platform. The relationship with Google - which we expect will expand significantly in the months ahead - is a prime example of the ways Nielsen is embracing new technologies, platforms and relationships worldwide to serve clients more completely, to provide companies with its insights and to help expand the base of potential advertisers everywhere.” “As we continue to expand our TV advertising program, it is important that we provide advertisers and agencies with data that will help them reach their target demographic with the right ad,” said Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer at Google. “Working closely with Nielsen, the industry leader, improves our measurement capabilities by adding a demographic layer on top of existing set-top box data. We’re pleased that Nielsen is working with us in this endeavor.” iGoogle launched in 13 new languages19th October 2007 6:43 am iGoogle Jessica Gray, Software Engineer at Google blogged on the Official site about the launch of iGoogle in new language set. Jessicia commented “Earlier this week, iGoogle launched in 13 new languages, bringing the total number of supported languages to 42 and the total number of country domains supported to over 70. For those of you who don’t know, iGoogle is a personalized version of the Google homepage that lets you select the content that matters to you most from across the web and arrange it in a way that you find useful and fun. People rely on iGoogle to save time by putting all the information and services they need in one place. They also use it to discover new content through the iGoogle gadget directory. With this launch, more than 99% of Internet users can take advantage of these features in their native language, which is really exciting for us. We’re particularly curious to see what iGoogle ends up looking like in these new languages. Because users and developers ultimately decide what iGoogle will look like in each of these new domains, we can’t be sure what will be popular, which is part of the fun. If you’re a developer who speaks one of the languages below, now is a great opportunity to get your cool gadget idea out to a fresh audience. For more information, visit our Gadget APIs page. Who knows, maybe it’ll be the next ‘Tu Nombre en Japonés.’” Here’s a list of the new languages available: * Arabic Google pushing Music in iGoogle8th October 2007 6:06 pm iGoogle Mendel Chuang, Product Marketing Manager at Google posted that it had added new functionality to iGoogle.
