Rumours are surfacing that Apple are set to launch a new "mini" version of its high successful iPad tablet in time for Christmas.
It is rumoured that the smaller version of the world's most successful tablet device will be unveiled along with the latest model of the iPhone, which is thought to have an October release date.
Two sources close to the development of the new iPad model have given some details about the device to Bloomberg, but have asked not to be named as obviously the plans have not been made public by Apple as of yet.
As for spec details, it is thought that the mini iPad will have a screen between seven and eight inches, compared to the 9.7 inch screen on the regular version.
These rumours of a miniature version of the iPad have been floating around for a while now, and it certainly makes sense for Apple to target the Christmas market for maximum sales.
Furthermore, a smaller, less expensive version of the iPad could massively affect the ambitions of the likes of Google and Amazon, both of whom have tried to undercut Apple with their Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire tablets, both of which are currently on the market at a drastically reduced price compared to the iPad.
